Hill Country RV Resort in New Braunfels is in the process of undergoing a $500,000 upgrade that will give vacationers a chance to rent or buy cottages.
Austin-based Hill Country Hillside Ltd., the owner of the resort, is investing in the upgrades. The company bought the 382-site park in December 2007.
"Right now we have three park models, and we have five more on order," says Bryan Kastleman of Austin-based Kastleman & Associates Inc., the group managing the park on behalf of the owner.
Unlike mobile homes, park models are 400-square-foot movable resort cottages that are equipped with bay windows, lofts and high-end wood cabinetry.
Hill Country RV Resort is renting park models for $110 to $195 per night. The resort is also working as a dealer for two Texas park model manufacturers, Athens Park Homes in Athens and Park Manor in Grandview.
In addition to the $500,000 facelift, Hill Country RV Resort is also repainting the common area buildings, adding a TV, computer and newspaper reading room, improving the physical RV sites, power washing and restaining the patio and picnic tables, adding an activities pavilion for arcade games and new landscaping.
Hill Country Hillside also equipped the park with free wireless Internet service through a relationship with TengoInternet in Austin.
